Singular Symptom

Patients who only report the singular symptom of tinnitus (ear sounds/ringing) with none of the other symtpoms listed below are probably not candidates for a craniofacial pain treatment program. The tinnitus condition could be a vestibular dysfunction or other symptom that is often associated with different types of hearing loss. ENT Physicians should be consulted in these instances.

Multiple Symptoms

Approximately one half of the patients who suffer from tinnitus also report one or more of the following symptoms:
  • Headaches
  • Face pain
  • Eye pain
  • Earaches
  • Dizziness
  • Pressure in the ears
  • Clicking noises or pain when opening or closing the mouth
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Burning tongue
  • Frequent sore throats
Our succes rate in treating this group of tinnitus patients is over 90%. Successful Tinnitus Pain Eliminatiion

Resolution of Tinnitus and Ear Pain

Tinnitus, ear pain and ear pressure, as well as headaches, dizziness, etc are usually eliminated as craniofacial pain treatment progresses.

Treatment commonly employs procedures which help stimulate muscles and joints to heal and function normally, decrease spasm, remove toxic waste products, and increase blood flow and nutrition to the affected areas. See the Headache Treatment page which includes a Stages of Treatment section for an explanation of therapies which are employed.

In rare cases, surgery to the affected tissues (not involving the ears) may be necessary.
